Karen has lived in Hawai’i for the past 31 years and has called Kaua’i her home for over 28 of them. Raised in middle Tennessee, she moved to Hawai’i to finish college at the University of Hawai’i, Mano’a, graduating with a BA in Psychology in 1995. Karen is currently a Broker at exp Realty, one of the largest Real Estate Brokerages in the US.
Karen began her Real Estate career in 1997 and was the former Owner/ Principal Broker of Aloha Island Properties. She joined Aloha Island Properties in 1997 and purchased the Real Estate firm in 2005 from her mentor and friend. During her time at AIP their sales team assisted with large projects including project condominium sales, such as Kamamalu & Kalapaki Villas; large subdivision sales such as Molokoa Village III, the Puhi Industrial Park and several large Amfac parcels, including the sales of Amfac Sugar Land which was over 18,000 acres; the largest land sale on Kaua’i at the time. After owning the Brokerage for over 10 years, and Karen’s young daughters growing up around her, she decided to downsize and focus primarily on sales assisting clients again with residential, vacant land and condominium property sales. Through her drive, ambition and focused energy, Karen has been a Top Producer for the last 27 years. She credits this success to the personal attention she gives to clients and their individual Real Estate needs. She is honored to say that approximately 75% of her personal business comes from referrals and return clients.
In 2000, Karen was awarded top Honors when her peers voted her “Kaua’i Board of Realtors, Realtor Associate of the Year.” In 2002, Karen acted as Chairman of the Public Relations Committee. In 2003, she was elected Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Kaua’i Board of Realtors and is now Past President of the Kaua’i Board of Realtors (2009). After graduating from the University of Hawai’i, Manoa, Karen worked in the Hospitality Industry of the beautiful Kaua’i Marriott Resort. While there, she enjoyed the challenges found in administration and marketing for the Marriott’s Kaua’i Beach Club, their timeshare division. Her drive and enthusiasm for sales and marketing inspired her to pursue her Real Estate Career, which has taken her to where she is today. Karen is blessed to have a wonderful, supportive husband, Kenny, and four daughters, 23 yr. old, Sydney, 19 yr. old, Siena, and her older daughters, Kayli and Sarah. Between a successful Real Estate Career that she loves and her wonderful family, Karen truly feels fortunate.
